All advertisements on Nile’s site run for 30 days, unless otherwise agreed between the advertiser and the site admin. Pricing is listed on the business owners information page, found here. You may apply for advertising by creating a business owner account with Nile and then submitting your advertising application under the “Businesses” tab in your account homepage.
Advertisements that don’t meet our guidelines will be removed from the site and the advertiser may be restricted from further advertising on Nile. The guidelines below explain Nile’s policies for advertising on the site:
Accuracy. Do not deceive or lie to the members. Ads must not be fraudulent or deceptive. Your product or service must accurately match the content of your ad. Any claims in your ad must have factual support. Do not make deceptive or inaccurate claims about competitive products or services. Do not imply you or your product are affiliated with or endorsed by others without their permission. Do not advertise prices or offers that are inaccurate - any advertised discount, offer or price must be easily discoverable from the link in your ad. Fraud and Deception. Ads must not be fraudulent or deceptive. Your product or service must accurately match the content of your ad. Any claims in your ad must have factual support. Do not make deceptive or inaccurate claims about competitive products or services. Do not imply you or your product are affiliated with or endorsed by others without their permission. Do not advertise prices or offers that are inaccurate - any advertised discount, offer or price must be easily discoverable from the link in your ad.
Advertising text and contact information. Feel free to use colloquial or conversational language, but please do so in an intelligible and understandable way. You can include a single link and either a single email address or phone number.
Discrimination. Even if legal in the applicable jurisdiction, Nile does not allow ads that advocate, promote, or contain discriminatory hiring practices or denial of education, housing, or economic opportunity based on age, gender, religion, ethnicity, race, or sexual preference. Ads that promote the denial or restriction of fair and equal access to education, housing, or credit or career opportunities are prohibited.
Language. Do not use inappropriate or offensive language.
Prohibited Products. Do not advertise adult content and dating services, affiliate advertising, alcohol, animal, copyrighted content, counterfeit goods, data collection and privacy, drugs and related products, fake documents, gambling, hacking and cracking, health matters, loans and financial services, occult pursuits, opposition, political or religious content (exceptions apply), scams, questionable downloads, tobacco, weapons, and fireworks.
Sensitive Content. Do not advertise illegal products, dating sites, gambling, hate or violence, weapons, financial status, multi-level marketing programs, inflammatory religious or political content, and more.
Trademarks. Do not use trademarks you are not legally permitted to use.
Illegal Products, Services and Activities. Ads for illegal products, services and activities are prohibited. Ads must comply with all applicable laws, including laws covering what content is allowed in ads and how ads are targeted.
Targeting on Sensitive Characteristics. Ads must not target based on sensitive categories such as health, political affiliation/beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical affiliation/beliefs, alleged/actual commission of a crime, sexual behaviour/orientation, trade union membership or income.
Link Behavior. Do not deceive, confuse or otherwise degrade the experience of members who click on your ad. The domain of your Display URL must match the domain of your Destination URL. All members must be sent to the same destination URL and landing page from a click on your ad. Do not send members to a landing page that generates a pop-up. The landing page must allow users to navigate away from the page, including via the browser’s ‘Back’ button, and return to the page that the ad was displayed on.
Edit Your Ad
If your ad isn’t approved for not fully complying with our policies, you can edit it and resubmit for review. To edit your ad: Check the email address associated with your advertising account. If your ad doesn’t get approved, we’ll send you an email with details that explain why. Using the information in your disapproval email, you can edit your ad and create a compliant one.
Appeal the Decision
If you can’t edit your ad or feel it was a mistake that it wasn’t approved, you can appeal the decision by responding to the rejection notice directly or emailing info@theNileList.com and explaining why we should reconsider the decision to reject your ad.
Alcohol. Ads that promote or reference alcohol must comply with all applicable local laws, required or established industry codes, guidelines, licenses and approvals, and include age and country targeting criteria consistent with Nile’s targeting guidelines and applicable local laws. Note that ads promoting or referencing alcohol are prohibited in some countries.
Dating. Ads for online dating services are only allowed with prior written permission.
Real Money Gambling. Ads that promote or facilitate online real money gambling, real money games of skill or real money lotteries, including online real money casino, sports books, bingo, or poker, are only allowed with prior written permission. Authorized gambling, games of skill or lottery ads must target people 18 years or older who are in jurisdictions for which permission has been granted.
State Lotteries. Lotteries related ads are only allowed with prior written permission...
Online Pharmacies. Ads must not promote the sale of prescription pharmaceuticals. Ads for online and offline pharmacies are only permitted with prior written permission.
Promotion of Over-The-Counter Drugs. Ads that promote over-the-counter medicines must comply with all applicable local laws, required or established industry codes, guidelines, licenses and approvals, and include age and country targeting criteria consistent with applicable local laws.
Financial and Insurance Products and Services. Ads promoting credit card applications, or financial services with accredited institutions must clearly provide sufficient disclosure regarding associated fees, including APR percentages, transaction fees, interest rates and the physical address of the entity offering the product within the ad’s landing page. Ads promoting credit cards, loans or insurance services must be targeted to people 18 years or above. Ads promoting credit cards, loans or insurance services must not directly request the input of a person’s financial information, including credit card information.
Branded Content. Ads promoting branded content must tag the featured third party product, brand or business partner using the branded content tool. Branded content within ads is defined as a creator or publisher’s content that features or is influenced by a business partner for an exchange of value. When promoting branded content integrations, advertisers must use the branded content tool (please learn more here on how to tag the featured third party product, brand or business partner).
Ads About Social Issues, Elections or Politics. Advertisers can submit ads about social issues, elections or politics, provided the advertiser complies with all applicable laws and the authorization process required by Nile. Nile retains the unlimited right to restrict issue, electoral or political ads for any reason.
Cryptocurrency Products and Services. Ads may not promote cryptocurrency trading or related products and services without prior written permission.
Weight Loss Products and Plans. Ads marketed at or for weight loss must be targeted to people 18 years or older.
Hacking, Cracking and Circumvention. Ads that promote products or services for hacking, cracking or circumvention are prohibited.
Incomplete Ad. Incomplete ads will be rejected. If your ad is rejected as incomplete, please finalize it and resubmit.
Counterfeit. Ads for counterfeit goods are prohibited.
Weapons and Other Violent Products or Services. Ads related to the promotion, use or sale of weapons, ammunition, or any other violent product or service are prohibited.
Community Standards. Ads must not violate our Community Standards. Ads on Instagram must not violate the Instagram Community Guidelines.
Illegal Products or Services. Ads must not constitute, facilitate, or promote illegal products, services or activities. Ads targeted to minors must not promote products, services, or content that are inappropriate, illegal, or unsafe, or that exploit, mislead, or exert undue pressure on the age groups targeted.
