Throughout her lifetime, she has explored various art forms. She tried drawing, painting, etc. The one that speaks most to her soul is fiber arts. Growing up, her mother was an avid quilter, and she also sewed a lot of Jamille’s clothing. These processes were always interesting to Jamille. Still, it wasn’t until college that she found her calling in the fiber arts. Jamille spent hours honing her craft and eventually very good at embroidery, weaving, and screen printing. Later she learned that her enslaved ancestors worked on indigo plantations. The African American business owner now realized why she had such an affinity for the fiber arts. Adia Jamille produces quality home goods, accessories, and gifts in pursuit of her passion.

Dr. Rick Kittles and Gina Paige founded African Ancestry in 2003. It is the world leader in tracing maternal and paternal lineages of African descent. It has helped more than 500,000 people re-connect with the roots of their family tree. Most companies can only tell what continent one has originated from, but not what country. It can also find specific ethnic groups of origin with an unrivaled level of detail and accuracy. This black-owned business provides a unique service to the black community, and most importantly, protects the privacy of the user by refusing to sell or misuse their DNA after testing. It improves the wellbeing of people across the African diaspora and helps those across the world reconnect with their roots.

Georgina Fihosy is the creative behind AfroTouch Design (the former Special Touch Designs), an Afrocentric stationery brand that is unique among black-owned businesses. Fihosy creates urban greeting cards and gift items for all occasions and seasons. She started what was then Special Touch Designs in the summer of 2015. At the time, she was on maternity leave with her second child. She was frustrated with the lack of representation in the greeting card industry. She wanted to find a card for a friend who had had a baby but couldn’t find one with a black baby or one that reflected her and her family and this beautiful occasion. Fihosy wanted something fun and urban - so she decided to make one herself. That was how her black-owned business, Special Touch Designs, was born. Fihosy is self-taught and learned how to make and design cards via Google University.
