Abir Ali is a designer whose work spans furniture and architecture, publication, and special project management. Andre Sandifer is a designer and a self-taught craftsman. The company that they have come together to form is unique among black-owned businesses. Ali Sandifer is a design studio and workshop with a particular fondness for furniture. Their work is born from a simple belief that design, material, and craft must work together. It's the only way to achieve intelligence, beauty, and longevity. Their design process is sincere, and they approach each challenge in search of a solution. They talk, research, question, sketch, and make prototypes. They work at full-scale through many iterations until they get the final product. Ali Sandifer is a laboratory for experimentation and refinement. Their operation allows them to move between studio and workshop, design, and craft.
Fine Art by Alicia A. Ray Alicia Ray’s work features figures with stiff demeanors, bold colors, and other arranged elements that represent the holding patterns her subjects have been in for far too long. Alilscribble is run by yours truly, Alannah Tiller. Why Alilscribble? Well, I've incessantly scribbled on the sides of my notes for class and in journals my entire life. I never considered what I did, "art." I wish I had leaned into it earlier, however it wasn't until I took a break from my corporate job after graduating with my MA that I really dove in. I'm still doing the same old scribbles, except maybe a bit more refined now with better tools. But it all started with a lil scribble. Also, my name isn't Ali haha, I get that a lot.
My Matte Liquid Lipstick and Natural Ingredient Lip gloss is unlike anything I have ever tried! it isn't tacky or sticky and does not run or bleed. My 3D style mink fur false eyelash... Made of 100% Siberian mink fur, vivid and shiny and long lifespan.
I’m a mommy, an artist, and the biggest nerd you’ve never heard of! If you would've asked me 10 years ago (when I was a freshman in college) whether I'd be a working artist, I would've laughed in your face. Because I was going to school to become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon! I didn't have time to breathe outside of school work, much less silly things like art. Eventually, I got burnt out and realized that medicine wasn't what I really wanted to do with my life, but it wasn't immediately apparent what I should be doing. It took me several more years, marriage, a few jobs, and a baby for me to realize I really wanted to go back to my roots and focus on making my art better. By the end of 2018 I was filling sketchbooks and growing on Instagram and Facebook (and still am!). In 2019 I opened my first shop and started working on commissions. My focus is currently on portraits of people and pets. I love drawing people. It's exciting to draw people in vulnerable and candid moments, to capture and evoke emotion, and to make people smile. I hope that I will have the honor of creating that special piece of custom artwork for you.
When Aliya Wanek launched her black-owned clothing brand, she did all the sewing. She was also working a full-time job as a speech therapist. At the time, Wanek was working only with denim. Cut to 2019; she still has her full-time job (she loves it). Wanek says her students have helped to shape her and her energy. She now works with organic cotton/hemp fabric. She has hired a production sewer to turn out the majority of her line. Color is essential to her. Thus, her color palette has evolved from working with indigo and black denim. Wanek is always interested in the impact color has on a person's mood and well-being. That always gets factored in when she is picking new colors. It's easy to see that Aliya Wanek is unique among black-owned businesses. Founded in 2016, ALIYA WANEK is an eponymous womenswear label that focuses on exploring the connection between one’s identity and style. This brand's mission is to create comfortable, stylish clothing ethically and sustainably as an extension of the wearer’s individuality.
