BootieButtah began this quest to counteract establishments in Inglewood Ca in soliciting to black consumers, are laden with many harmful toxic chemical components in bath, body and hair compositions. Claimed to be “organically sound” However far from the truth! BootieButtah promotes and encourages ethical sourcing for each of our botanicals from farm during our packaging process with small independent vendors who practice respect and integrity of ingredients. ​ We offer wilddcrafted ingredients, unrefined butters, balms, oils, body handcrafted in personal self care offerings. Nina Franqui’s career path took her into social work, with disenfranchised populations. Homeless advocacy and social justice work in urban communities of Compton, Watts, Inglewood, South Central, East and Downtown Los Angeles. Which all have disparities or a lack of quality non toxic self care products. Nina’s began creating BootieButtah from her grandmothers self care rituals imparted to her as a child. BootieButtah was born as need to address her own self care ,wellness rituals organically, mindfully, tangibly.

Backstory Finding the right products to use and the time to locate them for purchase can be....irksome, to say the least. You need what you need, when you need it. Natural products that work, are even more elusive than meeting the perfect person to date (you know, that person you want to make out of a combination of previous exes). Being natural is hard enough in today's society without the hurdle of having access to the right tools to do so. Goal: Our goal was to minimize the amount of chemically induced products that we use and switch to all natural. All while keeping Problem: The problem was all the natural products either were not completely natural, were way too expensive, and/or were not designed with the male consumer in mind. Solution: So we began our journey to create something that fit our needs, and BAM, Urbalist was born. Soon friends and family alike started to request samples of products and who are we to not put someone else on? Stingy little monsters? I think not. So, we gave people what they wanted, incorporated constructive feedback and perfected our product.

When not trying to be a mini super hero for climate change I enjoy creating in both visual and written form. Jeanette Co-owner & Business Manager I was born in March 1960 in Toledo, Ohio. I lived in D.C. for a few years and returned to my hometown. I love to create and always have, from drawing to writing. I find relaxation in reading, baking, sewing and gardening. As of March 2020 I have taken up a childhood pass time of playing violin. Pea Pod Pixie: A History It started out with our love of baking and crafting and grew into a career, one that we hope to live for many years to come. Although November 9th, 2016 is the date we launched our website and officially started selling to the public; we began our journey December 22, 2010. We spent six years learning and practicing our recipes. Testing them out, seeing what worked and, more often than not, what didn't work. We customize a great deal of our fragrances ourselves, which means you can't find them elsewhere. We have loved every rise and every fall we've had building this company, and we are happy share it.

Due to a Hurtle cell neoplasm, I had a total thyroidectomy in 2014. This was the commencement of my journey with Hypothyroidism.
