Radical Works

Health & Beauty, Bath & Body, Skincare, Home & Garden, Candles, Other, Fashion, Accessories, Scarves, Miscellaneous
Women Owned, Handmade
Once upon a time, and still continuing...In 2009, there was a birthday gift from an artist. In this box of mystery, a young woman opened it up to reveal a crazy furry hat. With a mix of colours and textures, the woman enlisted the artist to sell the work at an upcoming anime convention. At the convention, not only did the artist realize what an anime convention was, but also that people actually wanted to buy the work that was put forth. And thus, the artist set out to take over the world, one insane day at a time. That artist was Amelia R. Thompson. Starting off with Radical Bears (her own version of teddy bears), scarves, and hats, Radical Works has expanded to bath products and many other things Amelia can get her hands on. But this world of endless amusement would be boring if there was no one to share it with. With the support of fans and friends alike, Radical Works can share the world of endless amusement with countless people. Unless those countless people are zombies, in which case, world domination is going to be a little more difficult.

I am an Actor/Writer who spends a lot of time auditioning, on sets, and in transit. I say positive affirmations when I'm getting ready to perform or work, to center, ground and focus me . I started making origami stars as a way to keep my hands busy and as a sort of meditative practice. I combined my use of affirmations with the origami and that's how the Guiding Stars™ came about. Guiding Stars™ can be used as an uplifting daily surprise. My company is unique because although I have seen other people making these, no one has created a business to share them with the world.

Planning to Craft: Junk Journal and Craft Supplies. Thank you for visiting my shop. Nothing brings me greater joy than playing with my craft supplies to make something new. Crafting is so versatile that even after over 30 years of doing it, I still learn something new on a regular basis. My love for paper started when I was very young. I would keep journals on various subjects and would often fill them up quickly. When I was in Middle School, I decided that I could make my own journals. My handmade journals are my passion projects. I take my time to make them look and feel like something I want to purchase myself. It is often hard to let them go but I always ship on time! I am always willing to communicate, so please feel free to reach out with any questions, suggestions or requests. Over the years, I have fallen in love all over again with everything planning and journal related and many other crafts. My main passion is creating beautiful keepsake journals of many types and creating handcrafted tea blends and bath soaks I visit thrift stores often to collect beautiful vintage books and images that would be excellent for journal making, I scour the world for unique supplies to include in my junk journal kits and I have found some beautiful items that I cannot wait to share with you.

Jai Jai' s Corner

Women Owned, Handmade
Creating one Jai Jai at a time to your satisfaction! I fell into my passion for crafting dolls after being exposed to black dolls in a few venues that highlighted dolls adorned in African & Afrocentric garb with black features. They embodied a sense of pride and I wished I could do it too. My friend, Laverne, my former ministry partner said, “I think you are ready to make full sized dolls.” I questioned it initially and went to work in figuring it out. In August 2018, Jai Jai Dollz was birthed and I sold my first doll in Atlanta to a woman from Germany and from there several of my friends in the National Association of Black Social Workers ordered dolls too.

I’ve always used my hands as an emotional and creative outlet. Throughout my adolescence drawing, painting, doing make-up, clothing design and whatever else I could create became an ally in life; allowing me to mentally escape the tight restraints and boundaries placed on me through a strict family life, immersed in a religion, that was not true to my heart. I yearned to be free and art allowed me to find peace and freedom, within myself. After moving away from home, my love for art and creating stayed with me. I’ve always turned to it when things need to be worked out, internally. This has always been, my personal way, of processing. I didn’t think much of it in relation to the outside world. Then in 2016, life punched me in the heart and took a huge turn, as life tends to do to us all, and suddenly my passion for painting took on a new light and I felt an insatiable desire to produce! I produced art from my pain, from my soul, from the truth of me who was always humble and quiet, from the depths of my heart as a black woman, unseen, in this journey called life! Paint, paint, paint and paint is all I did in my free time as the years passed and the healing took on a journey of its own. As I painted, I learned myself, I loved myself, I saw the world in a new way, as a place for me to show up, as I am, regardless of who doesn’t approve, I am here! Friends and family began to ask to have and buy my art pieces, which was never apart of my purpose for creating. I was not interested in others and disregarded their requests and continued to paint in private and even began to expand my paintings to larger and larger canvases, until something shifted inside, in 2019. I was offered an opportunity to present my art in a gallery setting; I accepted and for the first time, I now wanted the world to know that I define who Soffiya is! I presented 20 canvases, of all sizes, to be shown in a black owned gallery in Oakland, CA, for three months. The public response was amazing and filled me with love and acceptance regardless of the journey it took to get here! That was it! I was off and running! From there I continued to paint… but not only did I paint; due to public request, I created social media accounts, a website, stickers, merchandise, started doing collaborations with other artists, and private contracted art pieces for independent businesses... and the business that has come into fruition today all from having grace with myself, as I found myself back into loving me! The art I continue to create now is not only for me but for everyone! I see that we all have a similar experience as humans, growth through pain. If my art helps others to heal, then I will not stop, nor keep hidden this energy that flows through me.
