Hi! My name is Kia and I started this business 5 years ago due to an eczema breakout I experienced around that time. I had never had any skin challenges up to that point, and I was nervous and scared. I wasn't happy with the amount of chemicals and "unpronounceables" in my prescribed medication so I decided to research and create my own remedy. I believe nature provides everything we need to be healthy and thriving. There are a lot of talented creatives that do what I do, but what sets me apart is always thinking about what's best for you and your skin as people of color. Even when I create a new product, I continue to research and develop and new and better ingredients present themselves. Hav Haircare was created by CEO Kami Wills who turned one of the lowest times of her life into the success that is Healthy Hair and VirtueKami’s brand is going from strength with a range of natural hair care products that support growth, hair health and manageability. Finding her passion is what got her through darker times and while Kami still has days where her depression is challenging, styling her hair is a pick me up that has a positive effect on her self-esteem. Kami aims to make other people look and feel good with her products as well as remove the stigma of mental health in the black community. Supporting mental health charities is an important part of Hav Haircare and her goals are much greater than just creating products. Solace, self-esteem and long-term well-being are what make Kami and Hav Haircare what they are today.

Luxe Locks Curl's products are natural and safe to use on children. Make sure to read the ingredients list on all of our products to make sure you or your kiddos aren't allergic. If you want to take the extra step to be 100% safe, make sure to do a patch test. Patch test: apply a small amount of product to the nape area or behind the ear. If you notice any irritation, discontinue use.

I started CurlyEllie because I believe that "no more tears" should mean exactly that, for everyone with even the most curly hair. My motivation was the heart break of seeing my 2 year old daughter (CurlyEllie herself) wincing as I pulled the comb through her forest of curls each night. Her curls were so beautiful but so difficult and upsetting (for us both!) to manage. I turned to friends, family and social media to find the answer. I would routinely stop other parents of curly haired children and ask for advice on hair care. The only consistent theme in the responses I got was that nobody was that happy with the products they were using. This led me to develop the CurlyEllie Hair Collection. As well as a product that worked, I needed products that were as kind and as natural as possible, due to the eczema and allergies that Ellie suffered as a baby. At CurlyEllie we believe we have created custom crafted, high quality and unique hair products designed specifically for sensitive, curly, kinky and frizzy hair to moisturise, hydrate, detangle, define and shine your child's curls. This is our goal.

A proud Afro-Latina, Ada combines her background in marketing and public relations with her passion for beauty to celebrate her Dominican roots and cultivate the Latina community. For the last 10 years, she’s built a strong community through her digital platform AllThingsAda.com. Her dreams of creating a haircare brand manifested when she approached her now mentor Aisha Cebellos-Crump about a product collaboration and Aisha offered her an opportunity to create her own brand instead. In the summer of 2017, these two driven Latinas joined forces and started to develop and create what is now Botánika Beauty. Through this new venture, Ada hopes to change the face of the beauty industry while honoring her culture and showing the world the power of the Latino haircare community. We chat about the importance of shooting your shot, perfecting your pitch, position your brand, being prepared and creating what you wish existed.

Strands of Faith was launched in February 2018. It was born due to passion meeting purpose. I have always had a strong passion for embracing natural hair and went over and beyond to educate myself and others on the process of returning natural. However, God knew His plans for me all along because He led me to create the company accompanied with a strong vision to do so. In hindsight, everything that I have done in my life has led me to this moment. It is surreal when I actually think about it. My scientific background has helped me to formulate the products. My MBA has helped in the business sense of things. My trial and error hair journey has given me first hand experience to truly relate to the struggles of others who deal with the same. The only way I can explain how Strands of Faith came about is that it came full circle. It was His plan for me all along. I am simply grateful!
