Hi, my name is Tanya, and I created my brand, KERIKA Apparel, a few years ago. I have always liked my middle name, Kerika, so I used it for the brand. I love fashion and beauty. I worked for many years as a Makeup Artist. I have always looked for cute clothes that represent my homeland of Jamaica, but I quickly got tired of the Jamaica flag tee shirts or leggings. I wanted something cuter and more modern. I wanted clothes that show my pride in my culture. With the help of my Haitian graphic designer husband (Jamaican by Marriage), I was able to put my ideas into fruition, and KERIKA Apparel was born. KERIKA Apparel is a Black Owned Business that draws from Caribbean Culture, especially Jamaica, for inspiration and creativity but celebrates modern Black Culture from around the world.

Carib Ibis is a small, black-owned business located in the greater Washington, D.C. area, specializing in unique apparel, art prints, and jewelry inspired by the African Diaspora. We celebrate the Siren in every woman and king in every man, through eye-catching slogan apparel and Afrocentric home decor. Our pieces reflect messages of tolerance, unity, equality, strength, and whimsy with a vibrant Afro-Caribbean flair. OUR NAME. Our name is inspired by the striking and resilient national bird of Trinidad and Tobago: the Scarlet Ibis. These beautiful, fiery red, long-beaked birds reside in the Caroni Swamp, where their vibrant red color commands attention. They are strong in numbers, mate for life, and are an absolute vision in flight. OUR BEGINNING. Carib Ibis opened softly in 2013, offering a small collection of original acrylic paintings and handmade statement jewelry. After a year's break, however, we decided it was time to start fresh and share our passions for fashion and art inspired by the African Diaspora. In 2014, we began offering prints of our original art, made-to-order graphic tees, and hand-painted/hand-cut tees. Today, we proudly offer 200+ pieces which celebrate black cultures, social justice, and positivity, and we strive to make Carib Ibis shop your one-stop shop for high-quality, unique apparel inspired by the African Diaspora. Our Story. Queennette originally started as Queennette Closet in April of 2016. I started with handmade jewelries and home decors from prints, clothing, shoes, paintings and more. The name Queennette first came to me during a period of deep healing and self-discovery while I was getting counselling to help me find my identity and my purpose in life. In the quest for finding myself, I discover my passion for making jewelries and for fashion. Over the years, I decided to make it simpler by changing the name to Queennette. The goal of Queennette is to encourage a personal sense of fashion by bringing you the most unique jewelries, clothing, apparels and more. Queennette aims to encourage the individual to discover his or her purpose in life; and fulfill it through his or her passions and through community outreach. I love to Design and make people happy with my pieces I'm a first generation Sierra Leonean American. I come from a long line of fashion designers and seamstresses. I've been creating items for myself and family for years. After being approached by many to creat pieces for them, that's when I decided to open an Etsy shop! It has been a very interesting experience, and one that has groomed me to be a better business woman. All of my pieces are fashionable, well constructed, and fits anyone's budget. Not only do I hand make my pieces, I also contract with artisan's from outside of the united states (Africa and Asia) to create pieces for me that I believe meets my standards of fashion, quality, and affordability.

Chaundraya and Danielle are “cool moms” and graphic designers, living in Atlanta, Georgia, who met through their 9 year old daughters in 2017. They quickly realized that they had too many things in common to ignore the fact that they could create something magical together. Each of them specifically had experience in the product design industry and had hoped to create something that they could truly be proud of and call their own one day — and it became increasingly obvious that it might not be possible if they didn’t take the risk, quit their jobs, and give it their all.
