I have always enjoyed creating and mixing products at home. It has become a very big hobby of mine. I’ve always searched for the best natural ingredients to use on my hair and body that feel good, smell good, and most importantly, aren’t harmful. I’ve found the perfect mix and am so excited to share it with you all. As for the name: The name NikArt comes from some wonderful childhood memories. That name was my first AOL screen name that my mother helped me come up with . The name is a combination of my nick name and my late father’s first name. It reminds me of my parents and the wonderful memories and opportunities that they provided for me and my sister.I hope that you enjoy these products just as much as I do. What Started as a way to provide relief for our family's overly sensitive skin had turned into an incredible line of hand crafted products for the bath, body and home. We've named our company Black Kettle in homage to the "old school" soap makers that came before us, cooking up large batches of soap for their families in large cast iron kettles. Like many soap pioneers we love sharing our small batch creations with our neighbors...only our neighborhood happens to be the whole world. I love that we have been able to help so many families with similar skin and allergy issues along the way. Our customers are the reason that we grow and get better each day.

My love affair with natural hair started 15 years ago. I remember really noticing the trend of African American women going "natural". So I thought, maybe I'll try going natural. So I did!! No more fearing the rain or a humid day, wrapping my hair every night or keeping every strand in place. All that sounded well and good but little did I know (like most novice naturalistas) I didn't have a clue on how to care for natural/curly hair. Little did I know natural hair needs lots of moisture, the right product for your particular texture and of course, some new hairstyles. For years, you're taught how to care for processed/permed hair, but curly hair...that's another story! So my search began, I tried them all, salon exclusives (outrageously priced) and dollar store brands (with my fingers crossed) and no luck. I could not get my hair to look like the picture on the bottle! Then I turned to various books and internet sites trying to learn what I can do to improve the quality of my hair and get those gorgeous defined curls. So after much researching, creating and experimenting I've come up with some wonderful shampoos, conditioners and other bath and body products. All of this led me to a few conclusions... *Natural products are better for your hair, body and the environment because YOU know what the ingredients are. *The reason my hair didn't look like the "lady on the bottle" was because of the alcohol content in over the counter products. It may last for a few weeks but after that my hair didn't respond anymore. *Everyone's hair texture is different and different things work for different people, there's no one size fits all for natural/curly hair. My products are derived from natural sources. I do not use any synthetic fragrances, mineral or petroleum oils, or animal products in the hair and body care items. Taking care of natural hair does not need to be complicated. It only requires consistency, natural sources and a little TLC. Let my products prove they are truly...Nothing but Natural!!!

Soap Distillery is a small company founded by me, Danielle Martin back in 2012. I was inspired by a lack of diversity between scented soaps found at my local health food stores and decided to take things into my own hands. After teaching myself the ins and outs of soap making and cosmetic science, I began making my own soap. While drinking an Old Fashioned during a conversation about scent, I came up with the idea to scent my products like cocktails to truly stand out from the crowd. Now, several years later, Soap Distillery's small team of four creates a myriad of uniquely unisex scented products that our customers love. We take sustainability serious here, so you'll find most the products that I produce are plastic free. Our soap boxes are biodegradeable, and we do not use essential oils that are unsustainable to produce (think: sandalwood, palo santo, etc). Along with donating to local organizations like the Broadway Youth Center every year, we make sure that fun products like ours can also serve an important purpose, and a positive message to our fans and beyond!

My little one was suffering through steroid creams that made her symptoms worse and I had to do something. That is when I researched and started trying different combinations of things in her skin to soothe her flare ups. My perfect blends were Pure, Skin? Friend and a set of hair products for treat her scalp. I never intended on selling these products, but I had friends with similar issues, so I made some for them to try. They loved the products and referred people to me. I realized how much I loved helping people to solve their skin issues and the response was overwhelming. I tried to just help people with no charge initially, but the product request was overwhelming and I had to... here entered Body Love and product customization.

Shae Shea LLC is a small bath and body business based out of New Orleans, LA. I started Shae Shea when I began making soap for myself. I found that commercial soaps on the market contained harsh detergents and ingredients that my sensitive skin couldn't tolerate. I noticed that my eczema and allergies were greatly reduced when I used simple but quality ingredient products. Over time Shae Shea was born and I began making soaps, candles, lip balms, and other products that I frequently enjoyed using. I make almost every product on the site by hand (with a few extra accessories). I offer products for people with allergies and special requests as well.
