MATH OPS INC. is a Canadian owned and registered company operating out of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. We are an educational games, company. In December 2018 we launched one of our flagship products, MATH OPS, for players aged 9-11. The other age groups (6-8 and 12+) will be launched in the near future. And coming soon we will also be offering a wide range of MATH OPS branded educational related products all at competitive prices. Origin of MATH OPS©. MATH OPS© is poised to become the world’s most exciting MATH board game! It was conceived as a way of overcoming the real or perceived fear of Mathematics especially by primary and middle-schoolers. The insight to call this game MATH OPS© came with the realization “eureka moment” by the inventor that indeed most of what we do in MATH are operations (hence MATH OPS), be it adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing etc. The primary goal of MATH OPS is to increase the efficacy (mindfulness) or aptitude of kids so that they can engage in knowledge building, creative thinking and problem solving around math processes and concepts. The secondary goal of MATH OPS is to bring families together, for example, a parent(s) playing MATH OPS as homework with their child(ren) or the entire family having a blast doing Mathematics together and having fun with it. The tertiary goal of MATH OPS is to have teachers/educators use the game as a check in: For knowledge and understanding; Of assessment for Learning; As an incentive for students to engage in intentional “play”; and As an assessment of cumulative learning whether the end of a strand/topic or unit or school term. As an educator and inventor, my challenge was to design an educational game that had a “balance” of fun along with age appropriate mathematical knowledge and understanding of concepts. This “journey” led to game spots such as HELP, SWAP and eventually MATH UP, as the game evolved over a period of about 2 years, to mimic events in a regular classroom. As the evolution of MATH OPS continued I added PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE, DETENTION, GYM and FREE TIME to truly compliment the classroom experience for players since kids and even adults are able to relate to these game spots albeit in a school setting or environment. The icing on the cake was “SPOILER ALERT” which is the “kicker” in the game with players having the power to send each other back to START to begin a new revolution around the board so as to gain an advantage or edge. Added to all this excitement was the evolution of the game revolution “marker” – the OPS coins. These beautifully designed “markers” or OPS coins come in “powers of 10” and are represented as denominations of $10, $100, $1,000, 10,000, $100,000 and finally, $1,000,000. With MATH OPS rapidly developing into a well thought out fun and exciting educational game I decided after chatting with a law firm to file for a PATENT for my invention. In addition, I was also advised to TRADEMARK the name MATH OPS. After many, many long hours and tedious editing and chopping and changing of the rules, the questions, layout and game pieces and prototypes, I decided to have the game manufactured. "I first came up with the Mentally Stimulate Me card game concept after seeing the feedback to my #JaxnPoll posts on my Facebook fan page. #JaxnPoll was something I started in 2011 on Twitter to get an idea of how people felt on ethical dilemmas dealing with relationships, and eventually carried over onto Facebook where the comment section was more fitting for opinions to be expressed in full. The posts' success in terms of engagement wasn't the deciding factor, but rather, how much disparity there would be between the commenters although on the surface, one would not see how such similar people could see situations so differently. While it would be years until I finally came up with the exact way I would bring it to life, around 2014 I knew that somehow, I wanted to create something that could bring these conversations to people's friend and dating circles because the same way I was getting to know my audience through these polls, people would be able to get to know each other the same way. At the end of 2016, I decided to create a game that people could play, using similar scenarios to the ones I posted in my #JaxnPoll questions. My first idea was an app, but after some thought, I figured we spend enough time on our phones as it is. The only way to bring this concept to life and to do it justice, would to at least first introduce it as a card game; something people could get for an affordable price, play anywhere, and would remove technology from the engagement for those who valued what conversation was before it came into play. At this point, "Mentally Stimulate Me" was conceived, the name characterized by the desire my followers had communicated was the number one priority when meeting a potential partner. As an author dealing with relationships, writing out the questions was the easy part, but deciding which questions to include in the box was difficult. I filtered down to questions that went into several directions from heart tugging romance to gut wrenching laughter; everything I'd hope to feel with someone I could potentially be in a relationship with. What is Risky Arcade? Risky Arcade is a board game that allows players to relive some of their favorite arcade moments such as winning tickets and collecting prizes. The artwork on the board features some classic arcade games to retro or modern video games. The game includes a deck of 50 cards with different scenarios to make the game more interactive. Doing so it makes the game based on luck and strategy depending on how good the player rolls the dice or uses the spinner. How does it work? Players move their playing piece clockwise around the board. When a player rolls the dice and lands on a "arcade game" on the board that player will pick up a card and follow the instructions to determine if they will be winning or losing tickets. For example, "Roll the number 1 or 4 and receive 30 tickets. Roll both numbers and receive Double!" Or "There was a glitch in the game you lost 10 tickets" There are also positive reinforcement cards to help reshape children's behaviors such as "you couldn't control your gaming anger pay 20 tickets to talk to a therapist". Players also have a chance to battle other players for their tickets. What makes the game fun? The randomness of the cards relating to an arcade experience is what excites players and keeps them engaged. The spinner adds more fun to the game as players have a higher chance of winning tickets or collecting a prize. Everyone likes to win at something and the excitement that players get from winning tickets throughout the game brings out the kid in everyone even adults. How do you win? There are 4 gift shop spaces on the board where players can redeem their tickets. Players can only collect one prize at a time when they land on "Gift Shop" which is the challenge. This allows other players who may be losing or "un-lucky" in the beginning to catch up. The first player to collect one of each prize wins! The game is over when the last player doesn't have all 3 prizes.

Everyone else selects a card from their hand that reflects a higher level of blackness and places their card down. Each player then defends their card selection in relationship to the other players card. As a group, players must come to a consensus on which card is blacker. Whoever played the winning card keeps the hand and wins the book. The winning player starts the next hand and everyone draws back up to 5 cards. Wild Card. Got a wild card? Well lucky you. This card holds great power. Use this card in a clutch. When this card is thrown, the player can choose ANY person they’d like to represent the card. Good luck! Switch it up. Play in teams! Divide players up in teams of two or more. Same rules apply. The rules are very simple. The discussions won’t be. Defend your stance to the fullest and may the odds be forever in your favor. If played right, this is an extremely fun and entertaining game about the malleability of race. We are Puzzles of Color! A black-owned family business run by brother-sister duo William and Ericka. We have been doing puzzles as a family since we were in elementary school and really enjoyed the challenge it presented and the long hours of family time we spent putting together works of art. But in doing so, we noticed two distinct problems, (1) the imagery often did not represent who we were and (2) when we liked a puzzle, we couldn’t find a frame that would fit them. So we decided to take matters into our own hands and create a puzzle company that addressed both of these issues. Our puzzles are framable pieces of art created by artists of color.
