Artificer

Women Owned, Handmade
Studio Artificer is a design studio that specialises in woodwork and ceramics. We welcome commissions and projects, and are particularly interested in balancing beauty and utility. Studio Artificer Shop seeks the work of artisans who purposefully go deep into a productive understanding of their materials and processes. For these artists and makers, what they make is an integral part of how they think and how they live. The lines between art, craft and design are both embraced and played upon in order to create a tension through which the refinement of their independent creative philosophy can flourish.. Studio Artificer is run by ceramicist Isatu Hyde and woodworker and furniture maker Kai Venus-Demetrio from their workshop in South Shropshire. Their working partnership is based on their love of natural materials, and of beautiful, useful things. They both have a natural desire to spend their time building things with their hands. Kai is a romantic pragmatist, Isatu is an intuitive deep-thinker. Studio Artificer Shop sells work directly from the Studio Artificer workshop, and from makers who are already (or are on their way to becoming) artificers in their field. Everything we sell has been individually handmade and therefore is innately unique, despite often being repeats of a series. Most of the items on our shop are only otherwise available to collect direct from the makers. Certain items can indeed be collected from our workshop or The Marches Pottery Workshop, and can be done so at a discounted prices of around 20-30%. Details of this can be found in the descriptions of such items.

Camille at the Wheel

Home & Garden, Decor, Other, Miscellaneous, Arts & Crafts
Women Owned, Made in America, Handmade
Camille at the Wheel is a collection of handmade, wheel-thrown ceramics with a bent towards beautiful utility. I love a cup that fits nicely in the hand, a bowl that holds just the right amount of popcorn, a mug that is the perfect size for a healthy serving of tea. I hope that my work brings you joy and usefulness, in equal measure. I carve and texture every pot by hand, making each piece one-of-a-kind. Though items may belong to the same set of work, there will be slight variations in size, color, and texture. It is these differences and quirks that contribute to the charm and character of each pot, and add to the unique experience of owning handmade ceramics. I hope you’ll agree! I practice pottery at a shared studio in New York City. I love this artform because it is a chance to make something out of nothing, and the learning opportunities are endless. Plus, for a perfectionist like me, it’s an important reminder to take nothing too seriously, hold on to nothing too tightly, and to occasionally let one’s senses take the lead over one’s brain. At the end of the day, it’s just mud, after all. Thanks for stopping by!
