In the summer of 2015, my 3-year-old daughter made a statement insinuating that she did not like the way she looked. I was devastated to hear that. I vowed that for her upcoming birthday, I would purchase party supplies featuring characters resembling her. I searched everywhere and quickly realized that the options were insufficient. This experience prompted me to create party supplies for her birthday party. She was thrilled to see what mommy had made for her. That’s how KIESSE, LLC was born in September 2015. Kiesse (pronounced Kee-Cee) means joy in Lingala, a central African language. Our slogan, “Joyful Kids, Embracing Diversity,” reflects the core belief of our company. We aim at boosting the self-esteem of all children regardless of their ethnicity. In fact, we embrace all children because we believe that they are beautifully and perfectly made, and should not have to endure a low esteem or feel denigrated because of their physical features. Consequently, we have developed a line of birthday party supplies for girls and boys, which feature unique characters. We have developed themes to include African Americans, Hispanics, Caucasians, and Asian characters. Children can identify with these lovely characters while having fun and socializing with their peers. We have developed a few exclusive themes to fit your children’s imagination. We also intend on creating story books with our characters residing in a city called Kiesseville where they all interact, learn from one another’s experience, contribute by sharing their culture, and learn to accept each other differences. Rinny Perkins is a multidisciplinary artist and writer born and raised in Houston, TX and based in Los Angeles, CA. Her graphic design and installation art work nods to 70s ephemera. Along with her comedic writing and performance, an emphasis on the intersections of feminism in identity of Black and queer womanhood. She continues to expand her message by using visual art as an instrument to disrupt the homogenous representation of women in media. Her work has been featured by outlets such as I-D/VICE, Nylon and Teen Vogue.

Lighting a candle is a ritual that began and has continued from ancient times. It is symbolic of life of not walking in darkness. A candle lights the way for one to move forward even when the light only illuminates just a few feet ahead. The path that we walk in life is sometimes filled with darkness. The darkness of relationships, sickness, poverty or the dread of daily living. It is my belief that our thoughts can be a candlelight to illuminate our way out of any darkness. T.O.R.C.H is an acronym for Thoughts of Rich Choices and Habits. Our mission is to inspire and empower people by reminding them that their thoughts are a prayer. That they are always moving in the direction of their most dominant thought.

Tal & Bert is the meeting point of raw natural minerals and industrial concrete. Our designs are made from hand poured concrete that has been sculpted by hand in small batches. Our work is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, finding the beauty in imperfections. We take the cracks and breakages in the concrete and turn them in to designs inspired by minerals we mine. This company was founded by Ray & Val Talbert due to their love of mining and nature. They are still very much involved in the entire making process, working along side a small team in their studio located just outside of Pittsburgh in Mt. Lebanon. Each design is carefully hand poured & sculpted to create an industrial esthetic that perfectly matches the raw stones.

Based in Fresno, California, Scent & Fire Candle Co. is founded and operated by me, Monisha Edwards. Dealing with the struggles of anxiety and depression, I burn candles to calm my environments, and to keep anxiety attacks at bay. I started searching for scents that would enhance my mood and started experimenting with candle making. I soon discovered the benefits of different scents, and decided to create my own scent blends. I wanted to create candles that would not only smell great, but would have a gentle touch on the environment by reducing our carbon footprint. I only use organic ingredients for clean and smoke-free burning, and environmentally sustainable packaging that is reusable. Since launching, I have expanded the Scent & Fire product line to include loose leaf teas, wax melts, room sprays, and diffusers. With the rise of mental health issues, my products are designed to destress environments and promote self-care for mental wellness. My goals are to provide luxury candles that everyone can afford, raise awareness around mental health, and help make self-care a daily regimen.

Alpaca wool is a unique and luxurious fiber that has been prized for over 6,000 years. It is often referred to as “The Treasure of the Andes Mountains” because of its unmatched softness and warmth. Peru’s indigenous people domesticated the animals that roamed the snow-covered steppes of the Andes and the alpaca was a critical resource as they built great civilizations – including the famed Incan Empire. Through the first known use of selective breeding, two distinct breeds of Alpaca – Suri and Huacaya - were developed and they now come in over 20 natural shades of fleece including creamy white - soft camel - smooth grey - and rich black.

Originated in Compton, CA, LOT XI is a community-conscious urban apothecary. All of our products are curated and crafted by hand. It’s important to us that we maintain quality products which is why we use environmentally safe and organic ingredients. Our ingredients are purchased through fair trade and we don’t store an excess of products in a warehouse. We purchase fresh ingredients from local farmers and pride ourselves in supporting other entrepreneurs. We champion a variety of Compton based causes and donate quarterly.

The Caramel Girl Collection was founded in January of 2015 by Tamica Lightfoot. In 2014, before relocating to Atlanta, Tamica began making hand whipped Shea butters as a hobby and to help with her eczema. After numerous friends and family inquired about her products, she began selling them from home. In 2015, Tamica began to experiment and add to her product line. Now, The Caramel Girl Collection offers a vast array of body butters, body soap bars, body scrubs, bath bombs, beard care, soy candles and hair formula. All products are handmade and infused with Shea butter along with other natural oils.
