We’re sisters, Letisha and Zeena, and we started Brown and Coconut as a lifestyle blog in 2013 while living in Boston, MA. We shared our journey to living a more conscious and holistic life with a special focus on our efforts to heal our acneic skin, which didn’t get better with conventional treatment methods. We knew the type of skin care products we were looking for but couldn’t find them in stores, trying countless products that were too expensive and didn’t meet our expectations, leaving us disappointed and out of money. Frustrated, but motivated, we embarked on the journey to develop our own line of skin care products. After identifying the ingredients we found effective in healing our skin, we began crafting entirely unique formulas. Countless hours of research, cosmetic chemist expertise, trial, and error led to the creation of our line of plant-based powerhouse products that not only do what they say they do, but that feel incredible to use. We’ve come a long way since we made our debut at our first-ever local pop-up event in Massachusetts, but what has not changed is our love for making luxurious botanical skin care that you simply can’t wait to come home to. We obsess over every single ingredient that we add to our products, avoiding anything that is known to be irritating or cause for concern, and hone in on unique blends of botanicals and clays that are especially effective and truly feel incredible to use. hoodfairy & co. is an urban apothecary that creates herbal remedies for everyday (and not so everyday) ailments and self-care. My body butters are my most popular product; they are really good for calming eczema and other issues with the skin. I create teas, facial and yoni steams, scrubs, herb-infused oils, and personalized remedies and self-care products. I grow some of my own herbs as well and am heading toward growing them all. hoodfairy & co. is also a learning space. I believe being well has many facets so there are movement classes (#trapzumba), there’s fairy school where we dive into learning about herbs and practices and the fairy gatherings where we participate in some kind of wellness practice or make a remedy together. I think what sets hoodfairy & co. apart is that its a space for empowerment & community. Rarely does someone just buy a product; they come to a class, they visit a garden, or come to an event and then feel empowered to go on a journey with herbs, with traditional practices, with their own body and spir

As a young woman, I have always been a gentle advocate of self-love & self-awareness. Just a few years ago, I became inspired to wear my natural hair. I relieved myself of all straightening tools, hair dyes, & any other additives in a mission to love & embrace my natural hair in a whole new way. That love transcended into a whole natural body care routine. Still, I struggled finding the right natural products for me. I wanted all of the benefits of natural body care, products that were NATURAL, HEALTHY for my body, & EFFECTIVE. I slowly began making my own body care products, & a love so deep blossomed within me. I focused on creating products that were both nourishing & beautifying. With passion & a love for self-awareness, I created LYL.

In 2012 Logan, now 48 years old, opened the Nail Suite by Lisa Logan, and she never looked back. But when the coronavirus swept through, nail salons were among the first establishments to close. Logan had to pivot - and fast. She found the solution while helping her newlywed daughter, who was due to give birth in June. I’ve long been a champion of oregano oil in my salon,” says Logan. The nail artist decided to try infusing the oil, known for its antibacterial healing properties, into a soap to treat her daughter’s psoriasis and eczema. “A light bulb went off,” she says. “I started mixing oregano oil with other essential oils and, with the help of a family member, created a soap.” Packed with a robust clean and crisp scent, the custom organic soaps are wrapped in rustic-style cheese cloth or burlap and tied with twine. “My first marketing effort was a TikTok video of me making the soap,” Logan recalls. “It received a good response.” One month later Logan’s O’Really Oregano Soap was in high demand. Taking orders online, she has even caught the attention of Carol’s Daughter founder Lisa Price, and Oprah Winfrey’s pedicurist, Gloria Williams, the Footnanny, ordered 50 bars. Now that her soap is so popular,Logan intends to sell it at retail price when the Nail Suite reopens. She sees the coming in-salon debut of the bar as a blessing. “This pandemic allowed me time to be still long enough to create a product that benefits people,” she explains. “This was already written.”
