Àse BodyCare (ah-shay) was founded in 2017 by Dana and LesPaul Newton Jr. in Queens, New York. They became interested in creating their own hair and body care products after realizing the harmful chemicals/ingredients being used in hair and body products on the market. Dana and LesPaul began experimenting with natural ingredients in order to formulate their own hair and body care products. Hence the birth of Àse BodyCare (ah-shay). Our mission is to provide all-natural hair and body care products that will improve your overall well-being. All of our products are pure, handcrafted and inclusive. ÀSE (ah-shay) is a Yoruba word meaning power, command, and authority. The ability to make what one says manifest. There is a spiritual aspect behind the word Àse (ah-shay).

Originated in Compton, CA, LOT XI is a community-conscious urban apothecary. All of our products are curated and crafted by hand. It’s important to us that we maintain quality products which is why we use environmentally safe and organic ingredients. Our ingredients are purchased through fair trade and we don’t store an excess of products in a warehouse. We purchase fresh ingredients from local farmers and pride ourselves in supporting other entrepreneurs. We champion a variety of Compton based causes and donate quarterly.

Lila opened Lila’s Skin Care. The business was an immediate success, and Lila became well-known in the community. Lila expanded the business to Lila’s Skin Care & Beauty Center in the 1990s. It offered many services that allowed patrons to get their hair and nails done, get massages, and most importantly restore their skin. Lila’s Skin Care & Beauty Center had an excellent reputation, yet it needed to reach new potential. Lila’s son, Arron joined the team as CEO to modernize and revitalize Lila’s Skin Care. As a family operated business, Arron began to make tough and necessary changes that would rejuvenate every part of Lila’s from the ground up, rebranding to become what it is today, Perfec-Tone. Arron quickly grew Perfec-Tone from a mom-and-pop shop to the successful business it is today, securing the legacy of Lila’s Skin Care.

The Caramel Girl Collection was founded in January of 2015 by Tamica Lightfoot. In 2014, before relocating to Atlanta, Tamica began making hand whipped Shea butters as a hobby and to help with her eczema. After numerous friends and family inquired about her products, she began selling them from home. In 2015, Tamica began to experiment and add to her product line. Now, The Caramel Girl Collection offers a vast array of body butters, body soap bars, body scrubs, bath bombs, beard care, soy candles and hair formula. All products are handmade and infused with Shea butter along with other natural oils. Tamica is passionate about helping others love the skin that they are in and will continue to grow her line of products. Meet this Caramel Girl below.

Holistic Blyss was started in 2018 first as a yoga wellness service, after Blyss received her RYT-200 certification from Three Sisters Yoga in NYC. Blyss was humbled by the role yoga & mindfulness played in her own healing from racial trauma & patriarchal toxicity, nurturing her identify, and self confidence. As an Afro-Latinx woman, Blyss recognized the need within herself and BIPOC communities to heal and restore their souls from the impacts of deep seeded racial & ancestral trauma. Equitable healing spaces are needed, especially since the individuals most deserving and in need of healing are not the individuals wellness is crafted for nor made accessible to. As a healer + herbalist she is humbled to hold space for our community to restore & nourish their souls as we continue to fight for social change.
