At Expressive Shades we understand how difficult it can be to pick up a diverse greeting card that reflects African, Caribbean, mixed ethnicities or mixed couples easily. In the UK it is rare to see greeting cards that reflect black people in all shades in regular card shops. We wanted to make a change. We no longer wanted to make do with what was available or spend a prolonged period of time searching online for something that should be available at our convenience. To us at Expressive Shades, it is more than just having cards that reflect us and those we are sending them to; It is about having a full range of quality greeting cards that represent us, our culture and our experience. This is the motivation behind Expressive Shades. At Expressive Shades we are all about spreading love, encouraging positive thinking and well-being. Spending time with family and friends, the people we care about and doing the things that we enjoy are important ingredients for well-being. Although we cannot always be around the people that we love, showing them that they are within our thoughts by sending a greeting card or gift will spread happiness and show that you care.

Sassy Spice Scents, LLC was founded in 2020 by Kimberly Sellars-Bates. The goal was to bring a smile to family and friends by surprising them with candles. She gave a candle to a neighbor and pretty soon she started receiving orders from individuals and stores. She recruited her daughter to assist in making candles and together, they became Sassy (Kimberly) Spice (Taylor) Scents. In addition to Sassy Spice Scents, Kimberly is Founder & President of KSTB Enterprises, LLC. Sassy Spice Scents carries both traditional and luxury scents for both men and women. One of the primary goals for Sassy Spice Scents is to provide jobs to the unemployed and underemployed.

Frères Branchiaux Candle Co. is an artisanal candle company based in Washington, DC created and managed by 3 brothers, Collin (14), Ryan (12), and Austin Gill (9). In October 2017, the young Gill brothers wanted more allowance to purchase video games. Mama and Dad Gill told them that they had maxed out their toy allowance and to either “get a job or start a business” if they wanted more money. They decided to start a business. Mama Gill attended a candle-making workshop and then taught the brothers. They now combine their own scents with the finest fragrance oils, hand pour each candle in small batches, and have even added accessories such as room sprays and diffusers. Our goal is to create quality candles that everyone can afford. Everyone deserves the comforts of fragrant candles to uplift their mood and beautify their homes. Frères Branchiaux candles and home fragrances help savvy, eco-conscious consumers who want to beautify and enhance their environments with lush and unique fragrances that are vegan affordable luxury. Our products are made in small batches, hand poured, hand packaged, and curated with care. The candles, room sprays, diffusers, soy melts, and soaps are the brainchild of Collin, Ryan, and Austin Gill--3 brothers under the age of 15 who decided to create a business to earn their own money. As well as earning money, they donate 10% of their profits to area DC homeless shelters. Our motto is Smell It, Light It, Love It!
