Deame's Bettah Buttahs Co.

Health & Beauty, Bath & Body, Skincare, Beardcare, Hair & Headwear, Haircare, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair growth/repair, Other, Fashion, Accessories, Jewelry, Miscellaneous
Women Owned, Natural, Handmade
I have been trying different products for my hair and skin for a long time. Nothing seemed to work. My skin and hair was always dehydrated and I didn't know what to do about it. Our idea for this company was to create products designed to hydrate your skin and hair without the additives or preservatives that companies use to keep the product on the shelves forever. We have designed all of these products from the nature of oils and butters from nuts and fragrances from the leaves and petals of flowers and plants, the barks of trees, and the peels of fruit. These Butters are hand crafted by being melted down and mixed without the use of metal implements that could place impurities into the products. We believe that we deserve natural products without fillers or harsh preservatives. May nature be around every where you go. Peace and Blessings, Phillip and Dominque Edwards

Maliesha Pullano, the founder of Mamaleelu Cold Brew, was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1999 with her young son to attend Western Michigan University. While attending WMU, she recognized that the world was becoming a smaller place and decided to study abroad in Spain. Maliesha won a scholarship that allowed her to study abroad and take her 4 year old son, for a year. As a single mother abroad she didn't get to do the things that "traditional" students where able to do i.e. go to bars and party all night. However, she was able to hang out, with son in tow, in lots of cafes, drinking coffee with other mothers that she had met. This was where her love for strong, black, bold coffee was born. In the early months of 2014, Maliesha applied for, and won a grant to start a food business through the Can-Do Kitchen. She was laid off from work and desperately seeking a way to support her family of three. Her brand Mamaleelu Cold Brew was started later that year. Since starting Mamaleelu Cold Brew, Maliesha is often asked to share her journey as an entrepreneur, has won several awards, a pitch competition, and has been quoted in Roast magazine. She continues to grow her line of products, gain new stores and enter new markets. Maliesha's passion and mission for Mamaleelu Cold Brew, besides producing a high quality product for the consumer, is to highlight her brand as a black-woman owned food brand in a highly competitive, yet not very diverse market. She believes that representation matters and that representation is one piece of the puzzle towards empowerment. She hopes as her story continues to unfold, that it inspires, brings hope, and empowerment to the ones who need it most. She also desires for you to relax at home, or at the home of a friend with a cup of STRONG. BLACK. BOLD Mamaleelu and let your stories be told!

OMNoire

Women Owned
OMNoire is a wellness social community for women of color dedicated to living well from the inside out. Our mission is to connect like-minded women through our events, retreats and online platform to cultivate strength, growth and positive manifestation in all areas of our lives. We believe that life truly begins through the interconnectivity of a healthy mind, body and spirit. What Is The Meaning Of OM? In Hindu mythology, before the world began, Brahma (the creator or absolute reality) was one, and He said, “I am one, but may I become many?” This thought created a vibration that settled into a sound. This sound was OM. From this vibration, everything in the universe sprang into existence. When you chant OM, the vibration from that sound correlates to the original vibrations that were sounded in the universe when the world was created. The sound of OM is often called Pranava, or that which runs through breath (Prana) and sustains life. OM is also a representation of the four states of the Supreme Being.

Hello, I'm Janell Langford and I'm a graphic artist living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For me drawing is therapeutic, It’s my self-care. I don’t feel whole or complete if I’m not being creative. Ever since I was a little girl I remember drawing being like a superpower. Even though I grew up in a house filled with chaos, if I was drawing I was able to block out the noise and be at peace. After high school, I started dating someone seriously and at that time I stopped drawing. The relationship became just as toxic and chaotic as my childhood and I had completely forgotten about my superpower. I suppressed the one thing in life that was my home frequency. Once I ended the relationship I started drawing again. The pain of the breakup lead me back to drawing and a rediscovery of my inner creativity. I've spent the majority of my adult life in white spaces, so it became important to me to begin to illustrate the representation that was missing from my surroundings and the media I consumed. From Michelle Obama's speeches to Beyonce’s Coachella performance I am overwhelmingly inspired by powerful black women. I begin to feel SEEN in reading Octavia Butler, hearing Janelle Monae talking about cyborgs, watching attorney Maxine Shaw on Living Single, and experiencing a live Santigold performance. Representation is everything. Soon I began the graphic design program at Seattle Central Design Academy. There I learned that I was passionate about creating a lifestyle brand that spoke truth to the kind of art that I wanted to see. That's how Obsidiopolis was born. The name comes from the word Obsidian, which is a protective stone that shields against negativity and also is a truth-enhancer. Black women and girls need to be encouraged to stand in their truth even when the world is not ready to listen. Obsidiopolis is a refuge, a sanctuary for black women and femmes to be empowered and inspired. After all, black women are from the future. When I'm not drawing pictures or daydreaming about a utopia of my own design, I'm watching Steven Universe, Thrifting, having solo dance parties and listening to my favorite podcasts.

Centralising the beauty of WOC, sisterhood and self-care. Most of Rochelle’s early paintings were inspired by the strong, wise, yet gentle women that surrounded her whilst growing up. She felt these women needed more representation. Rochelle now creates a collection of Illustrations, Paintings and accessories centralising the freedom and free expression of WOC, Sisterhood & Self-care. The art work explores themes of individuality, friendship, love, and healing. Rochelle uses a variety of oil painting techniques and digital illustrations to bring her creations to life. Her work is available as original Canvas Paintings, Prints and Tote bags. “I remember studying Art for years and rarely coming across Art that resonated with me more than the work I currently create now. Art is supposed to make you feel something, it’s supposed to ‘hit home’ and carry you to another place. When I teach, my only aim is for people to leave with a work of Art that truly means something to them. It’s these special moments and creations that we will remember the most.
